3M Novec 7200 engineered fluid is a low-boiling hydrofluoroether (HFE) engineered fluid, chemically known as 1-ethoxynonafluorobutane (C₄F₉OC₂H₅), CAS 163702-05-4. It is widely used in precision cleaning, heat transfer and drying applications.

3M Novec 7200 engineered fluid has a boiling point of 76 °C, a density of 1.43 g/cm³ and a surface tension of 13.6 mN/m at 25 °C, offering excellent penetration and wetting for thorough cleaning of narrow gaps and complex structures, with fast drying and low residue.

On the environment, 3M Novec 7200 engineered fluid has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and a global warming potential (GWP) of only 59 — among the lowest in the HFE family, making it an environmentally preferable choice for precision cleaning.

On safety, 3M Novec 7200 engineered fluid is non-flammable (no flash point) and chemically inert, with good material compatibility with copper, aluminum, stainless steel, and a wide range of engineering plastics and elastomers, making it safe on sensitive substrates.

3M Novec 7200 engineered fluid is suitable for precision cleaning of electronic, semiconductor and optical components, heat transfer and refrigerants, precision instrument drying, and electronic component testing.
