[Overview]

TUW-649 Fluorinated Fluid is a low-boiling fluorinated ketone with a 49 °C boiling point. It evaporates quickly at room temperature and dries completely, so parts leave the tank with almost no secondary drying. Non-flammable and free of flash point, it dissolves flux, particles and light oils aggressively enough for high-throughput cleaning lines.
In immersion cooling, the low boiling point makes TUW-649 Fluorinated Fluid a natural two-phase fluid: it boils on the die, the vapour rises to the condenser, condenses and returns by gravity without a high-flow pump. As an alternative to 3M Novec 649, it targets high heat-flux electronics, power modules and data-centre cooling.

[Typical Applications]

1. Fast-dry precision cleaning — Flux removal on PCBA, degreasing of connectors and relays, final rinse for optics and sensor components.
2. Two-phase immersion cooling — High heat-flux dissipation for server dies, IGBTs, RF amplifiers and lasers.
3. Leak detection and test — Leak-detection liquid, dielectric test medium and thermal-shock transfer fluid.
4. Carrier solvent — Short-chain fluorinated carrier for lubricants, coatings and functional additives.

[Handling & Compatibility]

TUW-649 Fluorinated Fluid is chemically stable and compatible with metals, glass, ceramics and most plastics. Because it boils low and dissolves aggressively, prolonged contact can shrink some rubber seals — specify FKM or FFKM where elastomers are exposed.
The fluid is non-flammable with no flash point but evaporates quickly, so the work area needs good exhaust to prevent vapour build-up and inhalation. Store below 40 °C in sealed containers. Distil spent fluid for recovery and dispose of the residue under local regulations.
Two-phase design is mostly condenser sizing: allow 30% extra heat-transfer area over the peak heat flux, slope vapour return lines at 5° or more to avoid liquid lock, and fit a relief device and level sight glass. Commission with a dummy load and record the boiling inception point for future scale-up.
