TUW-71IPA Hydrofluoroether (HFE) Cleaning Solvent – Precision Electronic Parts Cleaner & Degreaser, Non-Flammable, Fast Drying, Zero ODP

TUW-71IPA
TUW‑71IPA is a high‑performance hydrofluoroether (HFE)‑based cleaning solvent developed for industrial precision cleaning applications. It combines excellent solvency with a fast evaporation rate, leaving no residues on cleaned surfaces. Its ultra‑low surface tension allows it to penetrate into microscopic crevices, making it the ideal choice for removing grease, fingerprints, flux residues, and fine particles from printed circuit boards, connectors, semiconductor packages, optical lenses, and precision metal parts.

1. Overview

TUW‑71IPA is a clear, colourless liquid with a mild odour. It is a formulated mixture of fluorinated solvents and a small percentage of isopropanol, designed to offer a balanced profile of cleaning power, material safety, and rapid drying. It is non‑corrosive to most metals, ceramics, and plastics, and is compatible with a wide range of substrates commonly found in electronics and precision engineering.

2. Key Features

  • Fast Drying – With a boiling point of approximately 57 °C, it evaporates quickly, reducing process cycle times and eliminating the need for prolonged drying steps.

  • Residue‑Free – Leaves absolutely no visible stains, water spots, or oily films after evaporation.

  • Ultra‑Low Surface Tension (16 mN/m at 25 °C) – Ensures complete wetting and penetration into tight spaces such as BGA voids, micro‑vias, blind holes, and fine pitch connectors.

  • High Dielectric Strength (12.2 kV over 2.54 mm gap) – Permits safe cleaning of live or static‑sensitive electronic assemblies without risk of short circuits.

  • Excellent Material Compatibility – Safe for use on aluminium, stainless steel, copper, beryllium, ceramics, polycarbonate, acrylics, and many other engineering plastics (always test for specific polymers).

  • Low Toxicity Profile – Although it may cause mild skin/eye irritation (see safety notes), it is not classified as a carcinogen, mutagen, or reproductive toxin.

  • Environmentally Conscious – ODP = 0; low GWP; does not contain chlorine or bromine, and complies with RoHS and REACH.

  • Chemically Stable – Stable under recommended storage conditions; can be recycled and reused, reducing waste and operational costs.

4. Applications

Electronics Manufacturing

  • Removal of rosin‑based and no‑clean flux residues after reflow soldering.

  • Cleaning of PCBs, flexible circuits (FPC), connectors, and edge cards.

  • Degreasing of semiconductor packages, lead frames, and hybrid circuits.

Optics and Precision Instruments

  • Cleaning of camera modules, optical lenses, prisms, and display panels.

  • Degreasing of precision mechanical parts for medical devices and aerospace instruments.

General Industrial

  • Metal parts degreasing prior to coating or assembly.

  • Cleaning of plastic housings and rubber seals without causing swelling or cracking.

Specialised Uses

  • Carrier solvent for fluorinated oils and silicone lubricants.

  • Diluent for anti‑fingerprint coatings.

  • Drying agent after aqueous or hydrocarbon washing.

  • Leak‑detection fluid for hermetically sealed components.

5. Safety & Handling

  • Personal Protection: Wear chemical‑resistant gloves (e.g., nitrile), safety goggles, and protective clothing. Use adequate ventilation; if vapour concentration is high, wear a half‑face respirator with organic vapour cartridges.

  • First Aid: In case of eye contact, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes; remove contact lenses if present. For skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If inhaled, move to fresh air. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

  • Storage: Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well‑ventilated area away from direct sunlight and sources of ignition. Store separately from strong oxidisers and acids.

  • Spill Response: Eliminate all ignition sources. Absorb small spills with inert material (sand, vermiculite) and collect in sealed containers. For larger spills, dike to prevent runoff and pump into salvage containers.

6. Packaging & Storage

  • Available in standard containers (e.g., 20 L drums, 200 L steel barrels) or custom packaging upon request.

  • Recommended storage temperature: below 37 °C. Keep away from heat and flame.

  • Shelf life: at least 24 months from date of manufacture when stored as recommended.
