[Overview]
TUW-40 Fluorinated Fluid is a high-boiling perfluorinated liquid with a 155 °C boiling point. Clear, odourless and non-flammable at room temperature, it covers a liquid range from −57 °C to 155 °C. In an open, atmospheric cooling loop that boiling point means very low evaporation loss, almost no top-up, and no film left on the hardware.
Its main ground is front-end semiconductor manufacturing: dry etching, ion implantation, wafer test and packaging, where chambers, chucks and RF match networks need a non-conducting, non-corrosive, non-volatile thermal medium. With an average molecular weight of 650 and moderate viscosity, TUW-40 Fluorinated Fluid works in both pumped and natural-circulation loops. As an alternative to 3M Fluorinert FC-40, it also suits traction transformers, X-ray tubes and high-temperature ageing tests.

[Typical Applications]
1. Front-end semiconductor cooling — Chambers, chucks and power modules in dry etch, ion implant, wafer test and packaging tools.
2. Rail and power transmission — Traction transformers, high-power rectifiers, SVG and flexible DC equipment — insulation and cooling.
3. High-temperature electronics cleaning — Final clean and rinse of power devices, vacuum devices and high-temperature modules.
4. Testing and leak detection — Leak-detection liquid, thermal shock, insulation testing and high-temperature ageing.
[Handling & Compatibility]
TUW-40 Fluorinated Fluid is compatible with metals, ceramics, glass and virtually all engineering plastics. It contains no hydrogen, does not burn and is immiscible with water. Because it boils high and has low vapour pressure it produces almost no vapour at room temperature, but hot leaks can still scald, so lag pipework and flanges.
The fluid is not dangerous goods and ships as general chemicals. Store below 40 °C, sealed and out of direct sunlight. After long hot service, check water content, acid value and particle count every six months — moisture above spec will pull dielectric strength down. Distil spent fluid for reuse and send the residue to a licensed contractor.
When converting from FC-40, check three things: system moisture, because water above spec pulls dielectric strength down; elastomer temperature rating, where FKM is the safer choice above 130 °C; and pump NPSH margin, since inlet lines must not trap gas pockets.
